Verse:

Boy screaming in the grocery store
Says, momma I want more
Can I have some of that
To get him quiet she says yeah
At the end of isle nine
Heading for the checkout line
There's a little girl
Blue eyes blonde hair and the cutest curls
No one would know it
'Cause they don't show it
But they share something common in their lives
He was only seven, for her she was five
The day their daddies left, made their way into the night

Chorus:

There's a lot of that going on these days
It's hard to tell who's coming or going
Or put your finger on the one who's gonna stay
Throw the towel in whenever there's a little doubt
There's only two kinds of people in this world
Those who ride away and those who ride it out

Verse:

A man stares through the pouring rain
Fogging up the window pane
Worries by the phone
Hoping any moment she'll call home
And only miles away
At a hotel where his wife, she stays
Doesn't cross her mind
To even tell the one she left behind
He doesn't know it
But at that moment
They share something common in their lives
They promised for forever, now only one cares
And their marriage at this point has all but disappeared (and it seems)

[Chorus]

Bridge:

Why is it in this world we're hurt by those we trust
Even though we have it all, we never seem to have enough
So many could be saved from catching shattered dreams
If they'd remembered what forever means

[Chorus]
