Verse:

We've lived in this old house a while
She aint what she used to be
She's got a draft and the floor's sure creakin'
At least the roof ain't leakin'
We said that once the kids were gone
We would fix the place up nice
Finally build us a new addition
With a great big kitchen
Well I really meant to do it
Even measured out the size
But as I look around this kitchen
I realize

Chorus:

This wallpaper's seen better days
The style sure goes back a ways
It ain't new but I've gotten used to having it around
When I think about how long it's been
How long it took to put it in
Yes it's old but all the same it'd be a shame
To tear this wallpaper down

Verse:

The photos of our wedding day
And the kids when they were small
Filled up the fridge and before we knew it
Half the wall next to it
Now that wall is covered up
With this family that we raised
Yes time flew by and I got caught blinkin'
Now I can't help thinkin'
That it ain't the house that matters
But the home it's grown to be
And even though it may be faded
It's clear to me

[Chorus]

Bridge:

We can make this place our Taj Mahal
Promise me that we won't touch this kitchen wall

[Chorus]
